| Term | Meaning |

| Asset | Anything Kilnside tracks — an animal, piece of equipment, field, building, or material |
| Event | A recorded action — weighing, movement, treatment, birth, etc. |
| Flock | A named group of animals managed together |
| Flock mark | Your 6-digit APHA holding number, encoded in every EID ear tag |
| EID | Electronic Identification — the 134.2kHz transponder in ear tags, read by RFID wands |
| NFC | Near Field Communication — the short-range radio in your phone, used with stickers |
| RFID wand | A handheld Bluetooth reader for scanning EID ear tags at a distance |
| Sync | The automatic process of uploading your local events to the cloud and downloading new data |
| Offline | Working without phone signal — events are stored locally and sync later |
| Confirmation card | The card shown after you speak or type an action — review and tap Confirm to record it |
| Quick action | A shortcut button on an animal's card (Weigh, Treat, Move, etc.) |
| Withdrawal period | The time after a treatment before an animal can be sent for slaughter or milked — tracked automatically |
