Voice Commands

Works offline: Yes (with speech model downloaded)

Kilnside understands natural speech. You don't need to memorise specific phrases — just describe what's happening in your own words.

How to Use Voice

  1. Tap the microphone button in the Chat tab
  2. Speak clearly — you'll see your words appear as they're recognised
  3. Release the button (or tap again) when you're done
  4. Kilnside will show you a confirmation card
  5. Check the details and tap Confirm

Example Commands

Weighing

  • "Weigh Ewe 42, sixty-eight kilos"
  • "Ewe 15 weighs 72 kilos"
  • "Lamb 03 four point two kg"

Moving Animals

  • "Move the hoggets to North Field"
  • "Ewes are in Top Paddock now"
  • "Moved Ewe 12 and Ewe 15 to the barn"

Treatments

  • "Drench the ewes in Top Paddock with Dectomax"
  • "Gave Ewe 42 Alamycin, 10ml"
  • "Footbath all the hoggets"
  • "Treated Lamb 06 for fly strike with Clik"

Lambing

  • "Ewe 12 had twin ewe lambs, both alive"
  • "Ewe 42 lambed a single ram lamb, assisted, 4.2kg"
  • "Ewe 15 had triplets, two ewes and a ram"

Observations

  • "Ewe 42 is lame on the front right"
  • "Lamb 03 has scour"
  • "The hoggets in North Field look good, body score 3"

Questions

  • "How many ewes do I have?"
  • "What's the average weight of this year's lambs?"
  • "When was Ewe 42 last treated?"
  • "How many lambs has Ewe 12 had?"
  • "Show me all the animals in North Field"

Tips

  • Be specific about animals — use their name or tag number so Kilnside can match them
  • Include units — say "kilos" or "kg" for weights, "ml" for doses
  • One action at a time works best, but you can batch similar actions: "Weigh Ewe 12 sixty-five, Ewe 15 seventy-two"
  • Corrections are easy — if something's wrong, just say "no, I meant..." or "change the weight to 70"
  • Offline is fine — your voice is processed on your phone. Events queue up and sync when you're back in range

If Kilnside Gets It Wrong

  • It will ask you to clarify if it's unsure which animal you mean
  • You can always type instead of speaking — the text input works the same way
  • Say "undo" or "cancel" to remove the last event before confirming
