NFC Stickers
Works offline: Yes | You'll need: NFC-enabled phone + NTAG215/216 stickers
NFC stickers are small adhesive tags you can attach to equipment, gates, pens, or medication bottles. Tap your phone on the sticker to instantly identify the item in Kilnside.
How NFC Stickers Work
Each sticker has a unique ID and can store a short web link. When you tap your phone on a sticker, Kilnside looks up the linked asset and shows you its details and available actions.
Linking a Sticker to an Asset
From an Unknown Sticker
- Tap your phone on the sticker
- Kilnside shows "Unknown tag" with options
- Tap Link to asset
- Search for the asset by name
- Select it — done
From an Asset
- Find the asset in the Animals tab or via search
- Tap Pair Tag
- Hold your phone near the NFC sticker
- Kilnside links the sticker and writes the asset URL to it
Using Stickers Day-to-Day
Once linked, just tap your phone on the sticker. Kilnside shows the asset with quick action buttons — weigh, treat, move, etc.
Where to Put Stickers
| Location | Use case |
|---|---|
| Gate post | Tap to record which animals moved through |

Tips
- Waterproof stickers (epoxy-coated NTAG216) work best outdoors
- Stickers work offline — the lookup uses your phone's local database
- One sticker per asset — each sticker links to exactly one thing
- Stickers survive without power — they're passive and last indefinitely
- Phone must have NFC — most modern Android phones do. Check Settings → Connected devices.
